June 21, 2025 - Spring Long Distance Race to Whiskey Rock
What. A. Day.
All week the docks were buzzing—who was racing, who might fly a chute and whether the forecast would finally deliver. Well, we had seven boats on the line, no one flew a chute, and the wind? Oh, it delivered.
For those without instruments, A Foot Short clocked a peak of 27 knots True Wind at the Idlewilde mark—and what a rounding that was. This was a big boat day, no doubt about it. If you were on one, you probably had a more comfortable ride than the rest of us!
With a strong southwesterly breeze, it was Mahana’s race to lose—and while we gave it a good chase, she powered through, even surviving a 30-minute float fest at the finish to claim both line honors and a corrected first-place finish. Show Faith kept the leaders honest, charging hard down the line to nearly close the gap, but it wasn’t quite enough to correct out over A Foot Short, who took second place.
Huge congrats to all who raced today—this one will be hard to top. Here are the RESULTS. And for those curious about what it looks like to be heeled over 60 degrees and still under full power, visit the 2025 Gallery.

Pearl Island Race, October 12, 2024
The results are in! 9 boats started the race and 5 finished. We had a wide range of conditions, ranging from 0-18 knots and coming from every point on the compass. Pretty much standard Lake Pend Oreille racing. After more than 18 hours on the water we had 4 boats finish within an hour and a half of each other. For some boats the finish occurred at 1:30 AM with a 180° wind shift in the pitch black just outside of the no wake markers. Thank you to Gary and MacDonald’s Resort for sponsoring the race. Here are the results:
1. "Show Faith" (both line honors and corrected time)
2. "Moon Star"
3. "Foot Short"
4. "Rival"
5. "Fuller House"
DNF - Kestrel, Silkye, Mr. Pringle, Kittiwake
We plan to do other long distance races next year, so dust off your coolers, get out the cockpit cushions and pack your duffle bags!
